Comment:

Some of the most storied moments from a most storied career have come in the company of modern music's most celebrated performers. Jazz legend Bill Evans originally conceived "Waltz for Debby" as an instrumental, but Bennett waxes sentimental over the Gene Lees lyric with Evans himself backing the singer on the piano. The Count Basie Orchestra had never featured a male vocalist until Tony stepped to the mic, but he and Basie prove mesh perfectly in the big band bounce of "Jeepers Creepers." And in, perhaps, one of the most unlikely vocal pairings of the last half-century, Sir Paul McCartney and Tony unwind with a laid-back rendering of British bandleader Ray Noble's 1934 standard "The Very Thought of You." From k.d. lang to Stevie Wonder to Placido Domingo, your favorite artists all want to tap into a little of that Bennett magic.
