Comment:
Another one of those mixes without pre-concieved thought (I like doing that if you haven't guessed). After listening to it, the ride seems quite enjoyable. Lets see.. Miles, Bowie and The Stones all get covered.
Feedback:
ooooooooh...my brain hurts; looks fab-u-lOs-o! and, you claim, you pulled this one right out of your azz, huh?). i can't compete with this...! ~:-p
Most of my mixes are put together without any thought, much less pre-conceived thought! A very tasty mix--mmmmmmm, hot tuna. I'm afraid to even ask about the Langley Schools Music Project covering Bowie.
The Langley Schools Music Project are 1976-77 recordings, captured on a 2-track tape deck in a school gymnasium, weren't staged to achieve money or fame, to sell albums or land a record contract. They were made because these kids in rural Canada loved music. "The backing arrangement is astounding. Coupled with the earnest if lugubrious vocal performance you have a piece of art that I couldn't have conceived of, even with half of Colombia's finest export products in.me." --David Bowie (on the Langley students' rendition of "Space.Oddity")
Nice mix, Tom.
Wow. Langley is a mostly rural suburb of my this terrible city I live in (Vancouver). I dated a girl from Langley for a while. She lived on a farm, had a horse and sewed me some beautiful pillow covers as a gift once. Anyway, I've never heard of The Langley School Musics Project, but I have to admit your description is whetting my curiousity. How did you come across it? Is it currently available in any form?
Actually there's a review of the Langley School's Music Project in the latest issue of Spin. I assume it's being re-released.
Very cool.
