The succinctly named Gob, formed in 1994, was one of the mainstays of Canada's mid-'90s pop-punk assault. The quartet exploded out of Vancouver like a potato from an exhaust pipe, riding a thermo-nuclear wave of distorted bass and semi-automatic guitar. Their work is familiar to anyone who knows how to handle a joystick: "Give Up the Grudge" is featured on [i]Madden 2004[/i] and "I Hear You Calling" adds sonic dynamite to [i]NHL 2002[/i]. After 2003's [i]Foot In Mouth Disease[/i], Gob made the leap from local cult heroism to global domination. Obey.
