i don't consider sr-71 a punk band either. in fact, i don't think punk exists anymore. for the past 25-odd years, punk has divided into so many camps it's hard to define 'punk' anymore, either as a music choice or as a way of life. Everything's been broken into camps: hardcore, speedcore, emo/emocore,pop-punk, riotgrrrl, postpunk, etc. it's hard to think of artists as diverse as cat power and dashboard confessional (i have heard both classified as punk) being lumped with artists like the sex pistols and the dead kennedys being lumped with ani difranco and lou reed. i guess that's what i meant when i said 'i guess i was punk once' cos i don't think i could define what punk is anymore, and how can i be what i cannot comprehend or explain?

i'm not saying i think i know what punk really is. But just to say that there is no punk rock on a mix including NOFX and Alkaline Trio, most obviously, is an outrageous claim, if any.... this isn't nitpicking here
