Comment:

The passing of Mr George Harrison (who kicks off this compilation) inspired this mix, which may be considered morbid if not overtly ghoulish, depending on how you view it. Basically the title says it all, a gathering of solo artists and bands with members who are no longer with us. Sadly there are an awful lot more individuals and bands who could go on a mix like this (others left off the mix: the Grateful Dead, John Lennon, the Velvet Underground, Sid Vicious, Frank Zappa, the Beach Boys, Queen... it goes on). However, the music remains, and as long as that's being heard, they're never being entirely forgotten...

This is an awesome mix. Such a shame about the artists, but as you say, as long as the music is heard, they are not forgotten.

y'know, there was a radio program in Austin last Halloween where that was the precise theme. and "Alone Again Or" was the song they played for Love. I was gonna call in for some Big Star (I see you have Mr. Bell here already), but the show was only two hours and the DJ left a bunch of discs home. but anyway, not ghoulish, great theme, wonderful remembrance.
