Comment:

This mix contains only music that we bought during the year 2001...from 12/01/00 to 12/01/01, precisely. As you can tell from the song dates, we bought a lot of used cd's this year! My choice to include the songs release dates however, necessitated that I not include any albums that I dubbed from other people during the year. C'est la vie! Honor Among Thieves is a local band from Madison, WI, the Joe Strummer song is from a compilation on Hellcat Records, the Little Texas song is from a compilations of American (mostly country) bands doing Beatles songs, the Dan Rockett song "Sometimes I Cry" is an adaptation of a Tupac Shakur poem...and the Buckshot LeFonque song is also an adapted poem, this one by Maya Angelou, and she does the vocals!! I had to re-do this mix almost immediately after posting it the first time, as I had left a few vital cd's (including Bela Fleck) in my car while making the mix the first time!

I called a tape I made up a few months ago the same as this. Hinky. 'Cept my tape contained my favorite songs of the year 2001. Pretty obvious. It also bore a striking resemblence to last years Triple J Hottest 100. Funny that.
