Comment:

YES. A kickass wicked year for music, obviously, with lots of great hip-hop and a classic early Orbital single and of course Nirvana. Can't forget Nirvana. Or My Bloody Valentine and their huge huge walls of guitar noise. Or Massive Attack and their revolutionary trippy hip-hop sound (all we need now is a name for that genre). Or Smashing Pumpkins before everyone made fun of them (including themselves- "I want a walk-in humidor!"). A personal favorite. (NOTE: A Tribe Called Quest's Q-Tip also appeared on Deee-Lite's "Groove Is In The Heart" from the '90 comp, so maybe I'm violating my one-appearance-per-artist rule... does this mean I can include Dr. Octagon after an appearance by the Ultramagnetic MCs? An internal debate begins.)

UPDATE, 12-18-02: "On A Plain"? Fine, I'll stop fronting.

Don't forget Scenario is also the song that launched the career of a certain Mr. Woo Hah! (Busta Rhymes - for those who may have been on a secluded island when that song came out). As for Massive Attack...Blue Lines is one of, if not THE greatest album of the '90s. Wheee! Looking forward to more.

A good mixture of stuff from that year. Was it really 10 years ago? It seems like yesterday. I'll soon be posting my 10th anniversary of shoegazing mix, which includes My Bloody Valentine and a host of other dreampop bands from the early 90s.

Sweet, *there's* my De La! This album didn't seem to get much respect, but IMHO it's their best. This is a *great* CD.

yep...De La Soul Is Dead was a great album...the chorus to Ring, Ring, Ring used to be on my answering machine back then. 1991: The Year Punk Broke...a great Sonic Youth video from this era too..Nirvana breaks down the walls!!!

That's funny, I always thought it was "Over-Bored and Self-Assured." Go figure.
