Comment:
The first appearance of the genre some know as "jungle" and others know as "drum and bass" (LTJ Bukem), an early salvo in the huge barrage of Wu-Tang monster huge-ass hits, Elastica's first 7", Bjork's solo debut, Cypress Hill getting baked, Archers of Loaf getting wacky, Asia Born and Souls of Mischief representing the Underground West Coast in the year of Snoop (who ain't making these comps, sorry). Yes indeed.UPDATE 12-18-02: OK, so the early stages of jungle have been moved to 1991, and even more hip-hop has been crammed in.
Feedback:
Yeah... that was kindof a weird, heterogeneous period, wasnt it... I still have people trying to give me shit for listening to stuff like Snoop/Dre, Masta Ace, and so forth while I was beginning to discover stuff that would lead to what I listen to now... But didnt Naked Eye come out in 1995-96 or something like that?
jesus, this mix reminds me of doing an overnight at Bowling Green's "Commercial Alternative" station--WFAL. thanks for the trip down memory lane :)
AGH. Originally I was going to have a Luscious Jackson track from "In Search of Manny" but changed it at the last minute. I did not, however, remember to remove it from the playlist, so in a sudden emergency I am going to have to replace it with LENNY KRAVITZ. Yes, Lenny Kravitz. I also forgot to put in the last track, Morphine's "Cure For Pain". Damn I'm scatterbrained today.
What...nothing from Midnight Marauders?
No, because I like 'The Low End Theory' better and thus used my ATCQ quota up with 'Scenario'. ;)
wow, was it that long ago that "web in front" came out? I feel old.
YEAH! Archers! You are seein' the big picture with this series of CD's. Congratulations
