made september 15. for a friend who'd moved all the way from seattle to manhattan in august. if i'd had the album at the time, death cab for cutie's "blacking out the friction" would be on here too. [ -the hardest part is yet to come / when you will cross the country alone.- ]

i keep coming back to the same songs, i know.. but i really liked the picture these painted of the state of the union at the time. yes. and. the title was taken from an emily dickenson poem by the same name.
