an haiku:
Two classic albums.
Too much wankery in each.
I solved that problem.

just did something similar for a co-worker. she had only heard Pablo Honey and only has a tape player, otherwise i'd loan her the discs for Bends, OKC, Kid A, and Amnesiac, probably in order. instead i've loaned her OKC which i already had on tape, then i recorded Bends except Street Spirit on one side of 45 tape, then Street is first song, then a mix of Kid A and Amnesiac for the rest.

just realized where "hit the ground bleeding" was from. not Radiohead, but Soul Coughing

actually, I thought I came up with it. huh. oh well. I meant that I have this idea to do this, but both albums have been out for a while, so the concept may be DOA.

Brad - when Amnesiac came out Q magazine's website asked people to make up tracklistings for a nice concise 45-minute album out of all the tracks on Kid A and Amnesiac.Because I think at the moment that Kid A and Amnesiac are two halves of a rambling double album,I'm working on re-arranging the two.

super rad - especially the fact that you didn't put hunting bears or the original morning bell on here. both of those songs rub me the wrong way.

Man,it is hard to re-arrange them - there are so many songs that could start and finish the album.I've looked hard enough to see that there is a thread of continuity buried somewhere in the two albums...no wonder trying to sequence Kid A apparently just about split the band up.

yeah, it's true. I went with "Pull/Pulk" because I decided it was disorienting enough to set the tone for the fractured mix that followed. Maybe the tricky songscape here is like a trapdoor if you look to find a cohesive meaning. For some reason, I didn't want to let Kid A or Amnesiac's first or last tracks to be in the same positions on my album. good luck...

I wouldn't want the last songs to be the way they are either - Everything In Its Right Place is a great opener, but the irony factor in Life In A Glasshouse kinda ruins it for me.

i could never break apart kid a like that. it's one of the few albums that i prefer to hear as a whole. amnesiac..yeah i admit it is a bit shoddy and feels like "kid b-side." they could have easily released an EP with the good amnesiac tunes and tossed the others in the trash or at least allowed them to evolve for a future album. kid a itself is sort of an example of this. several of its songs were written around the ok computer era but the band didnt rush to throw them all on a full length album..instead they put out the airbag ep, which is a short, but spectacular listen.
