Comment:
everyone has a band that affected their lives like no other. you know the requirements: yr entire wardrobe consists of their t-shirts, you sing their songs in the shower, "turn that shit off" is the only thing yr mom says to you when you play their music and you may even be listening to one of their albums when you lose yr virginity. jane's addiction is that band for me. they were the soundtrack to many great moments in my highschool life and beyond, even when the band ceased to exist. their songs ranged from primal beats to beautiful, lush orchestrations to funked up punk fury and never ceased to amaze in the live forum. these are my favourite tunes from the original line-up (besides 'kettle whistle') and are a good representation of their dynamic range. perry remains one of my favourite personalities in the rock universe, even if his musical output after jane's left quite a bit to be desired.Feedback:
jane's is what opened the door to eventually what would become my obsession with indie rock. unfortunately for them, i decided to forsake them when i heard the pixies for the first time. we all have decisions to make i guess. i still hold on to those jane's addiction records so i can tell my kids "this is the music that ruined daddy forever and made everyone think he was a pretentious jerk." i love nostalgia!
the 'classic girl' single and the pixies 'surfer rosa' were my first two cd purchases, so i know where yr coming from brandt.
i can't identify with your comments..it was the beasties for me.
i remember being and not being able to buy "paul's boutique" when it came out. my mom had
to buy it for me and said i could have it after she read the lyric sheet..which she never did since i swiped it off her dresser and she eventually forgot about it.
