Comment:

this is digital (101000). the very LAST sinister xmas tape! this one is for mandee wright, who you already know the backstory behind if you read my "what's driving you mad?" commentary (long story short: i went to grad school with her sister.) i tried to have the rock n roll tragedy theme loosely applied to this tape just like the "mad" tape, but i lost interest somewhere on side 2 and started just putting rockin' number after rockin' number on it. so if you perceive a lack of quality here, that may be why...

Wow. You've included some of my favorite songs of all-time, Brandt, including one of my top five tape/disc-openers ever, "The Freed Pig". Great work. :-)

interesting joat...how do you think this is more "accessible" than my other mixes? because i look at this and think it's the same beast as the last 20 mixes i've posted...(with the exception of st. george...)

nah, i wouldn't say so. personally, i recognize more bands on this mix than the normal plethora of bands i've never heard on other fundakian works.

yeah, i love that built to spill song . . . sigh . . . and I was just listening to 'Low' and contemplating a Bowie/indie-references-to-Bowie mix although I don't know how that would work out. I really like *this* mix, though, esp. the way the last 6 or so tracks are put together.

My step-dad looked nothin' like David Bowie, but my dad looks exactly like Chris Spedding for what it is worth. My Dad has no opinion on David Bowie, nor did my late step-dad as I recall. My Dad does have some swell taste in music for an old fart. Wait what does this have to do with the mix.. Yeah, Brandt keep 'em coming, maybe I'll bequeth you the record collection.

Well, my step-dad looks a lot like the actor Omar Sharif, but nothing like Bowie, although he would know who Bowie is as well as one of your faves - "the pink floyd." He actually introduced me to their *early* music when I was a teen - a pretty cool guy. Oh, and great mix, by the way.

If your step-dad looks like David Bowie, then I'm in love with your step-dad.

Nice mix. I wasn't exactly aware of the tragedy theme, but now that you mention it, I think I can spot where you abandoned it. I don't have a step-dad, and my dad doesn't really look like anyone famous, except for maybe John Madden because they are both jolly fat guys! My wife's step-dad looks a lot like this guy that lives down the street from me...
