Comment:

my new year's resolution is to practice more random acts of mixtape kindness. this is the first of a series of mixtapes i'm going to give to strangers i meet at shows, on the street, wherever. just because.

what a brilliant idea...you should make a bumper sticker, "practice random passing out of mix tapes and spontaneous generation of music compilations." who wouldn't want to receive a tape with x ray spex on it?

that is by far one of the coolest things I have heard in a long time. you do that and you'll have karma to spare...nice mix

that is such a nice idea. if a complete stranger walked up to me and gave me a mixtape it would be such a little "oh" new strange tape... hmm, rambly. nice tape, i envy that stranger!

If I were to do this (well, I do it for friends all the time) I'd use CDs. Sure, call me lame, but I can buy a CDR cheaper than a tape hehe ;-)

Awesome! You may be interested to know: there's a guy in Kitchener, Ontario who records his own music. He doesn't believe in commodifying his creations, so he selects 11 tracks randomly out of a vault of 40+ pieces, burns them onto cd with a visual image and no track listing, puts them in burlap pouches, and drops them around the city for strangers to interact with. The only way to get one is to show up and hope for the best. Keep it in mind if you're ever in that part of Canada! Maybe you'll pass each other on the street and exchange music!
