my first mix of 2002 (otherwise known as the big scary year of the VCE) is for a guy who "looked after me" on new years eve when i was in no fit condition for looking after myself. lovely. i hate this little country town area's obsession with alcohol and how it always drags me along for the ride thanks to my blatant lack of willpower. worse upon worse this guy is model citizen of the year, the kid of guy that wouldn't surprise me if he ended up another liberal prime minister, and i say that in complete seriousness. i'm not sure whether i'll give this tape to him or not...maybe, maybe not. the title Yunupingu, is an Aboriginal word from an Arnhem Land dialect that means rock that will stand against anything.
