Comment:

This is pure nostalgia trip for me - from '85 to '89 I worked at KRFA - Radio Free Arkansas - the now-defunct campus radio station at the University of Arkansas. Lately I've been in a frenzy of searching for and downloading music from my college radio days... Trotsky Icepick, Dream Syndicate, the Clean, Camper Van Beethoven, Thelonius Monster, Flesh for Lulu, Black Flag, the Donner Party, Guadalcanal Diary, Flying Color, Husker Du, Bleached Black, Fetchin' Bones, Half Japanese, Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, the Godfathers, Econochrist, Dumptruck, the Leaving Trains, the Rhythm Pigs, Green on Red, Oversoul Seven, Gay Bikers on Acid, the BoDeans, Shreikback, Dag Nasty, Roger Manning, Glass Eye, the Jazz Butcher, the Plimsouls, Game Theory, El Grupo Sexo, Wire, the Cat Heads, Snatches of Pink, OLD Goo Goo Dolls (back when they were doing punk songs about venereal disease like "Don't Beat My Ass [with a Baseball Bat]" instead of their current treacly shit), and on and on... Sadly, you can't find a lot of this stuff anymore, but I did manage to dig up some good ones. This is the first volume I've put together so far. We were cable-based radio, so we weren't subject to FCC regulations - it was a free-for-all.

By the way, if anyone has "Bury Manilow" by Trotsky Icepick, "Marlboro Man" by the Rhythm Pigs, or "So Fucked Up" by the Leaving Trains or ANYTHING by the Reivers, let me know - I'm *dying* to hear some of this stuff again!

I absolutely love this mix!It reminds me of listening to my college radio station in Louisiana in the late 80s. By the way, I may be able to get some of those songs that you want, I have everything by Guadalcanal Diary. Maybe we can work out a trade.
