Comment:

this is not organised yet by where the songs ought to be and eventually the mix will(hopefully) be committed to tape(as you can see it doesn't fit on cd). this is for 'that boy' at school. you know the guy - something of a loser, but put a guitar in his hands and the girls are swooning. yeah, well, he's a winner all the time in my eyes. these are tracks by some of my favourites and some of his as well. not all romantic, but the point is obvious from the title. i'd like comments of how you'd feel if you got this tape. i want it to be perfect. this is important.

totally off the point, but does anyone else think 'clem snide' sounds like a monty python character?

That name *does* sound like a Python creation. And a fine mix, I've got to say... I'm sure I'd really like this if someone gave it to me, aside from a few cuts (but that's just personal taste--I can't stand the eels, Moldy Peaches or recent Green Day/Cure and I'm at best indifferent to Travis, Beta Band, Death Cab, Reggie, Juliana Theory and Weezer). I've never heard Clem Snide, TSD, or John Mayer, so I can't attest to them. What I *can* say (and praise to the skies) is that I *love* "Diamonds", "Mass Pike", NMH (particularly that song), Nick, Of Montreal (and that song), Sparklehorse, Promise Ring (and that song), the Smiths, Tom Waits... and the White Stripes (GREAT song), who are one of the most significant musical discoveries I've made in the past year and a half. SERIOUS, UNBELIEVABLE kudos to your choice of that Sloan (another one of my favorite bands) song, as it's one of my absolute favorites. So what I'm saying at great length here, is, yeah, I'd love it if a girl made this mix for me. :-) Thanks for all of your positive feedback on my mixes this morning.

I like Belle and Sebastian quite a bit, as *you well know*, Mr. Fundak, but not enough to rave about them. :-) I'll be sure to comment on *every* track next time to keep you happy, dear Fundak. ;-)

Rob, you deserve any and all praise you receive. As for The Moldy Peaches, this song doesn't really sound like their other stuff. It's slow and sort of melancholy. "Without 40 oz. of social skills, I'm just an ass in the crack of humanity." Yeah, that about sums it up.

clem snide is actually the name of a minor character from a william s. burroughs thing. that's almost python-esque, right? great mix, too.

I love it when americans like sloan. especially when they like deeper than beauty. There is a version of it on the live double album that is almost completely a fan singalong. It's gorgeous.
