Being a jazz musician in the post-Miles era is a little like writing after Shakespeare: just when you think you've found a patch you can call your own, you discover [i]he[/i] got there first. Mahavishnu Orchestra (founded by two ex-Davis sidemen) pay homage to their former colleague with "Miles Beyond." And "Buckshot LeFonque," a.k.a. Branford Marsalis, ventures somewhat more successfully into hip-hop with "And We Out" than Miles did on his final album, [i]Doo-Bop[/i].
