Hyphy is spreading like wildfire through the music industry and iTunes is here to keep you clued in to the hip-hop sounds that we expect will be all over the charts in no time. The hyphy sound has been a Bay Area constant since 2000, but only recently has been making inroads through the rest of the country. Characterized by a slightly uptempo, minimal beat and a heavy electro back-drop, hyphy (the word is a variation on the word 'hyper' as coined by Keak Da Sneak) is all over releases by E-40 and Traxamillion. It's got energy, bounce, and a freaked-out funk style that is pure vintage George Clinton.
