Comment:

Thing I like about this mix: Side 2.
Thing I do NOT like about this mix: Side 1.

There should be a law banning "Wouldn't It Be Nice?"
from all "romantic" mix tapes (similar laws should be passed against the playing "Always" and "I Can't Help Falling in Love with You" at weddings). Sublime song, forever ruined for me...

Side 1 is giddy and shameless, 100% cheese. It was the summer of 1999 and naivete was the name of the game...though not totally, I guess, since Side 2 begins and ends in the darkness of hopeless obsession and utter loneliness. Beware of anyone who gives you a romantic mix tape that includes either This is Hardcore, Between the Bars, or both.

this is great, but i'm not quite certain why that beach boys song should be banned, since it's so damned good...

Personal reasons, that's all. In my alternate, pain free universe, it's in my Top 10 Songs of All Time

I had to read your comments on why "wouldn't it be nice" twice to understand why it should be banned, and it started to make sense. It's a top 10 song for me too, however, in the wrong context, it wouldn't work (like when a relationship is over). Great mix, btw.

Actually I'd totally dig a romantic cd/tape with "This is Hardcore". The chicks dig Jarvis, man! And the Pixies, Suede and the Beach Boys are nice too.
