Comment:
all i really need to know, i learned from mixology. i start my internship with my former school district tomorrow. i'm focusing on at-risk programs and prevention of risky behaviours among students. it's a long-ish drive to work in traffic, so i made myself a nice mix to make me think of school. 1) obvious 2) geometry 3) art 4) geography 5) history 6) science 7) library 8) english 9) music 10, 11, 12) focus on at-risk behaviours(d.a.r.e., i guess) 13) physical education 14) student council 15) obvious. the pic is credited to the education something or other in newton, mass.
Feedback:
good luck with all that. my student teaching experience was a nightmare. if i made a mix tape about it, it would include "fire" by jimi hendrix due to various flames started by students and "out the window" by the violent femmes because a student jumped out a second story window to avoid science class. ugh.
Nice mix... and a sort of funny idea. :-) I really, really love that Ryan Adams song, the NMH song, the Belle and Sebastian song, the Elliott Smith song and the Sparklehorse song (which, in turn, is a cover of a wonderful Vic Chesnutt song). :-) I've got to say, though, that I just don'g "get" your inclusion *another* Moldy Peaches song (and one of the worst songs I've ever heard at that)... but hey, it's your mix. ;-) And FYI, the Green Day song is "2000 Light Years Away". I love that song, too.
i'm working with eighth graders at a pretty posh middle school, so things shouldn't be as bad as all that. it's the other half of my internship that worries me - school boards and committees and administration, oh my!
thanks, rob. :) i don't know why i like the moldy peaches; i just do. and that songs strikes me as being pretty funny and yet fairly representative of the neighborhood i grew up in(also known as the 'ghetto' to the kids at the school i'll be at). and thanks for the correction.
pam - i support your moldy peaches selection! it is pretty appropriate and fits quite nicely where you've put it.
COOL!
Wow, really great mix. And I used to live in Newton myself! Well, Newtonville, and it was 10 yrs ago...Good luck with the job.
nice mix. rosie has been known to climb out of windows during class funnily enough. although our school's pretty much all one storey so nothing too scary
Damn fine mix. I've been thinking of making a school mix for a while myself, as I start student teaching in 3 weeks (2 1/2 weeks really, but it's less scary if I say 3). If I ever get around to it, we should trade.
