Comment:

Mix from my vinyl collection, made the first day I set up my old stereo in my new house. Seeing all the vinyl mixes on this site is inspiring me to visit the $.50 bin at my local shop, but I have to wait until tomorrow, when my wife will be out of the house. She thinks my collection is too big as it is, and it doesn't seem to compare to others on this site. The woods are lovely, dark and deep./But I have promises to keep,/And miles to go before I sleep,/And miles to go before I sleep.

I can relate to your story. I hooked up my turntable a few months ago after it sat dormant for several years. Now my girlfriend has to wait impatiently while I go through the $1 record bins at the swap meet. There's still a ton of vinyl out there that will never see the light of day on CD, and you can't beat the bargains.

I like your dinosaurs-oil-petrolium-vinyl mix, very interesting combination of artists and styles. I'm a bit of a record collector myself, though the only records I can find around here for a dollar all seem to be by Barbara Streisand (gee, I wonder why). If ever you're looking for a record for your collection feel free to mail me, I trade online all the time.

Wow, I can relate to your woes - re: your wife thinking your collection is too big. While I'm still trying to get my turntable hooked up (which I may not be able to do, since it's aussie and my receiver is US, so I may have to just buy a cheapo all in one aussie system) my hubby asks me "why do I need to buy vinyl? don't bands release things on cd too? He has a lot to learn...

i loooooooooove vinyl. unfortunatly my capacity to tape from vinyl to tape died a year ago and is still to be fixed (must get the parents onto that one). i just picked up the cabaret soundtrack, the original one with liza minelli for $1...ooooh, that was fun. nice mix...interesting , quite embraces "mixed genre"

Thanks for the encouragement. Sue and Rosie, I hope you get your systems up and running soon, I'd love to see a sampling of your collections. Peace.

Excellent title, AND "Distant Early Warning"! Also: "Out in the Street", and my favorite Rolling Stones song. Well done.
