Comment:

Started out as an attempt to make something a little different from what I usually produce. Then some not so good things happened and it turned into a sort of heartbreak/depression mix, which I am loath to characterize it as since I don't particularly like the idea of glorifying a state of mind/being that I would give anything not to feel. For this reason I think I also put on the odd song that would sabotage it, like the Canned Hamm. And on top of that I think I was also looking for songs that might provide some feeling of comfort, hence the preponderance of personal 'oldies' like Dino Jr., Uncle Tupelo and Drivin' N Cryin'. Basically it's a big mess and I'm not even sure I like it (although it's not so bad to listen to). I actually made it a while ago and hesitated about posting it for that very reason. Eventually decided to put it up for the benefit of those who have an interest in failed experiments, which evidently must include me, since I just shelled out for Dylan's Self Portrait the other day.

Absolutely *nothing* wrong with this one, Randy. Bizarrely enough, one of my faves on here is your Joni pick (she's not a real favorite of mine in general, but that album is). Another in a long line of killers from our man in Vancouver. :-)

i'm not sure if it qualifies as a failed experiment, to be honest - looks too damn solid for such a questionable distinction. nice work, esp. with side 2.

an odd mix, but really good. i adore that beth orton song. i'd say your experiment turned out rather well. it'd be great for late night drives.

I just looked through all your mixes. This perhaps isn't my favorite, but it's still very good. If you'd be intrested in a trade contact me. I believe you've heard "naked... naked, this time" from jeanette.
