Comment:
i've found more and more that my generation is fairly ignorant about rock'n'roll's history, going so far as to think that smash mouth wrote "i'm a believer" and that "i think we're alone now" was written by tiffany. this may become a series, but that remains to be seen.
Feedback:
Yup, I know what you mean, it's really sad. You wouldn't believe how many teens/early 20s people I know who have never heard of so many of the bands (originals) on here (because I'm older, however, I like to fill them in).
one thing that pisses me off is when bands/artists come out with a cover song and get really big from that one song.. take alien ant farm for instance of late. but you could go on forever with bands like that. and its more than likely, thatll be their only hit song. pretty lame...
don't alien ant farm have another song about the movies that's big? i think i saw that on mtv the last time i watched tv. i could be wrong, though. in any case, i see your point.
It's a depressing thought, that's for sure.
wow.. bjork and pj harvey did satisfaction? there's so many good covers of that song. Devo, Cat Power, Otis, etc.. i'd like to do a mix cd of just satisfaction covers, but that would get quite tedious.
I love cover mixes...I need to hear that Portishead cover of "Waiting for the Night". (Sort of coincidentally, all my CD compilations of covers are called "Imitation/Flattery/Sincere".)
