Seeing the Doors in concert was like off-roading through a minefield. Would Jim be drunk? Abusive? Obscene? Would the cops break out the tear gas? Toss music into this explosive mix, place your bets, and let the show begin. You can feel every sinew of your diaphragm constrict as Morrison ratchets “Touch Me” back to a bass-and-vocal sigh before it explodes into 3-D; you can smell the ozone from the lightning bolt unleashed by Jim’s soul-cleansing howl kick-starting “Roadhouse Blues.” What we have here is the all-time hit-laden Doors fantasy concert, where the band is locked in a transcendent groove and the cops are nothing more than crowd control.
