Comment:
Perhaps it is because we've all been told to write about"what we know"....perhaps it is because, in our hearts,
we really aren't that adventuresome after all, and we do
take comfort in familiarity.....all I know is that there
are a helluva lot of songs about songs....songs about
the craft, songs about the industry, songs about other songs...
Stephen Malkmus fact-checking Geddy Lee, and Rush, telling us
that "glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion
of integrity, yeah!" Well, maybe not for Paul Westerberg, who reminds
us all that he will forever be found left of the dial....in the end, it's
pretty apparent that musicians are an incestuous bunch, but hey, that's
rock and roll!
