Comment:

mix for dleone in the world famous PFM mix trade number three. a tradional folk mix, with more of an focus on early blues styles and clawhammer style of playing banjo. i purposely left off guthrie, because i feel some of the lesser artists be shown, and i have problems with putting lots of songs by a artist who i like a lot, sometimes everyone other song (or it seems). the highlights of this disc are Josh White's take on the gambler blues called Free and Equal Blues and Lead Belly's Let it Shine on Me, which sings a bit of Amazing Grace towards its mid part. cheers.

Reverend Gary Davis and Roscoe Holcomb....very nice. Looks good...did you use some of the High Lonesome Sound series for the mix? Great job!

the only high lonesome sound series i've heard is a Folkways Collection of Roscoe Holcomb tracks (which track 23 is from)the term as i've heard, describes the way he and others in his vein sing in a higher pitch. i really just like the sound of it as a mix title. i'm silly like that.

This is great (as you know already by your feedback, I'm sure). I'd love a copy--let me know if that's possible. Have you checked out honkingduck.com? LOADS of that Old Timey sound...

you're missing a lot of influential female folk artists on this traditional folk mix!

yea. i agree. i don't really care for this mix to be honest. i like the blues mix i made (which is mostly female) a lot better.
