Comment:

Here it is -- my ultimate Beatles covers mix. After many years of obsessive collecting and hemming and hawing, I've made a stab at it. Of course, the whole question of "best" covers opens up several cans of worms, but this -- ranging from the obvious (Feelies, CSN, Otis my man) to obscure (Roger Nichols, Fats and Roy Redmond) -- is pretty much all killer. Note: Ghana's Charlotte Dada has slightly altered the title lyric to 'Don't Bring Me Down.' Many thanks to all those over the years who have supplied tracks, suggestions and inspiration. Now that the floodgates are open further volumes may be expected.

Okay, Eric, I definitely want this one. I'm working on my end of our trade as I type this, incidentally.

This looks great Eric, So many Beatles songs were great to begin with, so you really had to suck to screw up a cover version. BTW, thanks for using Barry Gibb after I made my "AOTM Debut" mix!

Bravo! The obsession shows, and has paid dividends....you WILL be showered with praise, looked upon with envy, and contacted by the multitudinous hordes slathering for a copy....somedays I wish I could say: "Okay, I definitely want this one" and know I'll most likely get it....fealty.

Ah yeah!! This is a way cool idea. And I think that leaving off Joe Cocker's "A Little Help From My Friends" is a nice statement. ;)

hah, sorry, i meant to say that soundgarden does a lovely, angry version of "come together."

Ion...I see it a little differently. I think, because the original Beatles songs were so strong, the vast majority of covers are going to end up sounding pretty poor.

This looks great. I'd love to have a listen. A friend of mine was working on a similar project. I don't know how his turned out.
