This is the first in the series of Tales of the Proverbial 2nd Chance. Sprinkled liberally with soundbites from Full Metal Jacket, Easy Rider, Jerry McGuire, The Shining, and the US Armed Forces. Streaming audio of this can be heard at http://www.stormpages.com/jonpoi/index.htm

rob, the smiles are comradical and reciprocated....thanx...i sure do wish i could recall what inspired me for this now 60 volume mess...looking back at this mix, i forgot that i am actually in one of the tunes: the peter tosh cut....i was living with my sister in KCMO and Peter Tosh/Jimmy Cliff were in town...we were too broke to see them, but she ran into Tosh's band at a hotel she was having a meeting at and they invited us to the show 'cause we couldn't afford it....they gave us the front row and it was an incredible time...i wasn't much of a genre dancer at the time and when they wanted skanking, I was rockin'....they kicked into I'm The Toughest and as I was dancing, I was doubling the beat...the band started laughing and likewise doubled the beat and the song just got faster and faster as it moved along...i was very embarrassed about it but laughing along with them....i loved that show and was really saddened when he died...later on, when I was scouring some cut out bins in Kawagoe near Tokyo, I came across this bootleg that claimed it was Peter Tosh live in Montego Bay but turned out to only have three cuts from Jamaica and the other 12 or so cuts were from the show i was invited to in Kansas City...sure enough, I'm The Toughest really does pick up speed in the wackiest of manners...synchronicity of any sort, especially thousands of miles removed, is always nice....anyway, the standout of this mix? i think it's gotta be the Alvin Stardust track: pure Les Paulisms all the way
