Comment:
my school themed tape! side one tracks 1-4 is me awakenening and having breakfast on the verandah, the bjork song fits because i actually live on quite a big hill and tend to throw toast and fruit scraps off the edge. Bus Stop is pretty self explanitry. track 6 with the luckies is in relation to the ridiculous couple that insist on having early morning pashing in front of MY locker! don't panic... well, school's a stress experience (especially in year twelve!). i had to put a song by my school band, just cos. and days, well... either it's being sarcastic, or waiting for the nostaligia of school to hit in 40 years.side two tracks 1-6 are my subject related songs. philosophy is for literature, because our lit teacher spends more time talking philosophy that lit! english murder mystery...for english where we read crappy books (unlike lit where we read good books), the modern age was a chapter in a history book i was flicking through the other day, human behaviour was part of the definition of "what is psychology", I love paris is obviously for french, and silence is golden is for my much covetted last period on friday free period where i get to go and either do quiet work in the music room or leave school full stop. beach boys medley is another bus realted song. under the rotunda is for "it's all ready friday..." because without fail i ALWAYS say that on a friday at school. enter space capsule is such a happy song that fits in with the weekend vibe...and spin the bottle is for the PATHETIC parties you always end up going to because otherwise you'll stay at home and watch the bill and go to bed at 10. and so end this reading. blah blah blah.
Feedback:
this is great.. and i love the explanations for the choices! i can completely relate to the spin the bottle comment...
Some lovely stuff, Ms. Rosie. I haven't heard that Juliana Hatfield song in a *very* long time... and "Days" is one of my three favorite (probably two favorite, actually) Kinks songs.
Great mix, Rosie. Where the heck in Warrnambool college anyway? Is your town anything like the one in the flick "Mullet"? (which I just rented today - pretty average).
while i have (almost0 successfully managed to blot out most of my high school experience, this mix reminds me for some reason that i'm nostalgic for college social structures--made ABUNDANTLY evident by my attendance at a radio station training meeting yesterday...it hurt to not be able to claim i was a student...
I guess life since High School hasn't changed a great deal. I still go everymorning into an ugly building with horrible lights and pretend I'm doing something until they let me go home. Nice mix!!
