Peter Tosh
Artist | Song |
Comment:
Reggae legend, champion of the pro-marijuana movement (catch a blast of "Legalize It"), militant Rasta man . . . Peter Tosh remains a Jamaican icon, who rocketed to fame alongside Bob Marley as one of the Wailers, then launched a solo career in 1976. Tosh had earned the nickname Stepping Razor on the streets of Jamaica's Trenchtown on the back of his volatile temper; the phrase was immortalized in song by one of his early mentors, Joe Higgs, and we've included the Wailers' version of that track here. Tosh was murdered in his home in 1987. These tracks form the nucleus of his legacy.
