Comment:
I first heard Billy Childish when I bought a Milkshakes compilation in '84. I thought surely this mixture of The Kinks & Link Wray without a trace of modern day punk influence couldn't possibly be contemporary. Had to be some forgotten beat combo from '65, right? Since then, he's become the single artist taking up the most cubic inches in my music collection (Miles Davis might actually have him beat though, some of those complete sessions boxes are hefty). By my estimation, he's rewritten "All Day & All Of The Night" a thousands times over as well as delving into delta blues, English folk, skiffle, woodblock printing & poetry. Compiled at the suggestion of Rob Conroy.Feedback:
YES!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! You are a God among men for compiling this for me. For this, you will be rewarded with a package in the mail tomorrow. :-)
Yes indeed. I think I shall have to ask for this one myself. Splendid title as well.
just when i think i can manage a day without wanting to trade with the lo-fi, he pulls me back in. damn you and your stellar ways! what can i cough up for this?
YEAH!! I knew this day would come. Childish's prolific output is hard to keep up with.
yeah...i saw the lo-fi list of records and after i picked up my jaw off the floor and wiped the drool from my chin i was never the same again. i think i too need enlightenment (and lo-fi...package on the way this weekend...i promise!)
WOWSA! i find billy's output too intimidating to tackle beyond a few comps. kudos to you jim for doing the dirty work.
I LOVE Billy Childish in all of h is many manifestations! I really need to have this, lo-fi. =)
