Comment:
I've been listening to Nico a lot since Wes Anderson reminded me of how much I like her (via his newest flick, not in person). I intentionally left off those three VU tracks, even though I love all of them, because she has more than enough fantastic material on her first four albums (which are all that are represented here) to fill an 80-minute CD. Biggest regrets: not having enough room to include "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams" or her lovely cover of "I'll Keep It with Mine" (my absolute favorite Dylan tune).Feedback:
Very cool--too bad her personal life was such a disaster.
Yeah, sad but true, Marty, but listening to her records can you imagine her having any other type of personal life? :-)
Great mix, Rob.
oh man oh man oh man/ my sister and i have talked 4+ hours (non-consecutively)on how royal tenenbaums is the best movie ever, and we both fell in love with nico afterwards/ i'd always heard her solo career was shit until the moment gwyneth paltrow got off that bus.../ anyhow, i would kill to get this mix, or any of yours, mr. conroy, and would gladly trade my first born for it/
The documentary NICO ICON is an interesting insight to her artistic and personal life. I must admit, she talks about her life existing and revolving around the confines of this small touring van that keeps sticking in my head as a film or play concept. Very fine primer to Nico's stuff.
very nice rob...you may have to throw this in with your next package/meeting with me. i'll be sending you some stuff this weekend...
Lovely tribute to a strange and interesting (AMAZING) artist. Does her voice ocassionally remind anyone else of Astrud Gilberto's??
I can definitely see that comparison. When I listened to "Nibelungen" last night, though, I couldn't believe how much her voice was reminding me of a lower-register Bjork...
Lovely,Desertshore
is one of my favorite albums, scary sometimes, there so much beauty also.

I don't know how I missed this. Excellent.
