Comment:
A tape for Jordan--side two offers him some additions to his fine "mix tape of the week." This tape mostly features bands of the "new pop": bands that compose bouncy ditties that are decidedly retro; that is, they wear their influences on their sleeves. dressy bessy borrow from 60s bubblegum pop, others idolize Brian Wilson, Wolfie love (early) Joe Jackson. Some retro nuggets and some country-flavored balladeering thrown in. Enjoy Jordan, and, of course, I could do the same for you.Feedback:
this tape looks terrific! i love the repetitive song title motif. ah, pop.

great job <3
twee pop. who still listens to that crap?
just kidding. but seriously why is a mix from 1999 the mix of the week?
Hmm, so mark the time-- 3:23 pm, 8/12/2004: my 5 year old mix gets its last kind word because at 3:24 pm it was deemed irrelevant.
Indiepop, I guess, is now finally noise pollution.
At any rate I can listen to most of this still. The Kleenex Girl Wonder, Wolfie, and Dressy Bessy CDs, however, are in a box in the closet.

Oh, mix of the week? News to me. Why? Could it be indiepop revival time!?! Viva la Jangle!
twee pop OR indiepop OR wussy pop will never die!!!
I'm sure this mix sounds as great now as it did 5 years ago, though it's a bit surprising that it was named mix of the week (although the whole mix of the week - or month - selection process never has made much sense to me). If nothing else, I hope this inspires you to post some factory fresh mixes. This kid is a master, folks.
Bring back The Plastic Imperial!
because 1999 ruled...and because i found it barely this week...sorry for the confusion. but i liked it. so motw it is. perhaps a four year old mix next week...ehh?
i like to think that i had something to do with the death of tweepop by being at the center of one of the main reasons kindercore went out of business. sweet.
Scandal? Justin!!, do tell.
But I guess that means it's your fault I won't be getting those last singles promised to subscribers of the Kindercore Singles Club in 1999. There was always hope until they went belly up.

nah that would the incompetence of the idiots who ran the label. i was just in one of the bands that helped bankrupt the motherfucker.
It rocks.
rock it does. congratulations.
great tape. great tape for RIGHT NOW, too. reminds me of playlists when i was on college radio. [sigh]
wow this is all cute, wonderful little things. good job!! i tried doing a cd like this once "60s-ish 90s pop" -- and good job including the merry go round i LOVE them
