[i]Dread Beat an' Blood[/i], from 1977, marked the birth of dub poetry and emerged from L.K.J.'s early fusions of his verse with reggae. Producer Dennis Bovell (widely credited as the man who invented lover's rock) masterminded the dub backdrop and so began a lasting collaboration with L.K.J.: vital protest songs like "It Dread Inna Inglan (for George Lindo)" set the tone.
