Comment:

The final installment of the seasonal mix project, this was given in late July of 2001. It's interesting to see the bands that are able to evoke the moods of each of the seasons, such as Belle and Sebastian and Yo La Tengo while others seem to only associate themselves, in my mind at least, with half of them. Nico is Fall and Winter while Beulah is Spring and Summer. For this one I wanted to capture the feeling of hot asphalt, deserts, and the superficiality (if that's a word) of Summer.

I think this and your winter mix are my favorites of the four. I'd have been tempted to put more surf music on this, but Pipeline's enough. Nice variety. I want that T. Rex track!

"Buggin'" *screams* summer, along with several of these other tunes. I like this one a lot, as well.

wow. great call on the go sailor track! i think that there are other rose tracks that would be more obvious, but that one really works. great as always.

one regret: where's Calexico ? if you think hot asphalt and deserts, they're not far...

Does Calexico share members with Friends of Dean Martinez? I'm sure if i owned any of their albums they would have made it onto this volume, but alas, I have none as of yet. Maybe I'll get some in time for the coming season of sun.

This is very, very tasty indeed. Punches is my favorite Talking Heads track. I LOVE that one. The only thing I'd do differently (perhaps) is replace "I Know Where the summer goes" with "a summer wasting". Nah. Who the hell am I?? Leave it like it is... ;)

I'm meltin' along with everyone else.., hot enough to desire a drink. Like that Ride choice.., and the Wilco is a personal favorite. Good stuff!

Now here's a nice mix. But really, no Beach Boys? "Warmth of the Sun" would fit right in.
