Comment:
for my best friend. loose themes: us, rollerskating, covers. triple grr.Feedback:
I notice there's a very minor Tenenbaums theme here too (oh and Waking Life too, I just noticed). Probly a hard thing to avoid right now I 'magine (I know those songs have been pretty prominent in my mind lately). Anyway this looks like a fine mix for a best friend (beautiful choice for a closing song). There's something infinitely more satisfying about making a mix for a good friend than for yourself, especially if that friend likes music as much as you do.
yeah. tenenbaums has stuck in my mind (as well as everyone else's, apparantly). it's hard to resist. i'm a big avoider of the two-songs-off-the-same-album or by the same artist, so I was reluctant but I couldn't let go of either of them. lucky for me there's a loophole since the rolling stones song isn't on the actual soundtrack album... thanks for the compliments.
It is funny how "These Days" seems to be everywhere after that movie, but it makes sense, since it rules so damn much. Also: yay for the NMH song, the Cat Stevens song which is my favourite of his (back to the movies: I love Harold and Maude more than anything and so "Trouble" makes me cry), and that Silver Jews song is where my favourite nicknames ever came from, so it rules too. Woohoo!
this is amazingly cool! where's the NMH from?
i found it with my favorite mp3 sharing tool... audiogalaxy.com... it's live, but i'm not sure when or where. it's great.
another great one summer...when i get my backlog of trades taken care of this week, i'll e-mail you about a trade...
You can get the Phil Spector cover on the Jeff Mangum solo album, "Live at Jitter Joes". Which you should all get. Really. It's amazing. (And you can watch the show on your computer! Yeah technology!)
This looks like a really, really good mix. The Bright Eyes, the Waits song, what sounds like a rad Nirvana cover, stones, dan bern, silver jews... and on and on...
