Comment:

This mix was born from Mary Lou Lord's song "His N.D. World", recorded live for KGSR, Austin, TX. In it she name checks a number of the so-called "alt.country" artists signed to independent labels. I thought it would be fun to make a mix including all of these acts. The problem was that I only had enough of them to fill a 60 minute tape, so i used one side of a 110 tape for 'nd world' and side two for an interesting mix of country influenced songs. If you want explanations of some inclusions, you'll have to read the liner notes. A good country tape for all of you who wish the Grand Ole Opry would cease to exist.

I recieved this mix from Dave in trade last year, and it has been in constant rotation ever since. I even brought it with me during a 3-month-long research project in the a rainforest in Belize...held up very well.
The entirety of side A is a masterpiece, with each song flowing nicely and having maximum impact. Side B, whlie seemingly disjointed at times, is superb as well. Definitely a recommended mix.

I'm pretty sure the "Scott Miller" in Mary Lou Lord's song is the Scott Miller from Knoxville, who led the V-Roys. (Or wait - doesn't she say "Scott Miller" more than once?) If you like the stuff on this mix, you'll like his stuff too.
