Comment:
Long-delayed collaboration between lo-fi jr (odd-numbered tracks) and me, Rob Conroy (even-numbered tracks). Two manic musical minds converging over stale, spiked coffee and greasy home fries at a rat-infested truckstop somewhere on the Ohio-Indiana border... or maybe just one music geek sending half a mix to another music geek and suggesting he finish it to see what happens. Well, the results are above. Supremely unlistenable, but in the best way. [Addendum: Some second-hand thanks to Eric Schmuckler (via lo-fi) for the Richard Hell track.]Feedback:
Yikes!

you guys need help. nice work.
like the rev. hell, i'm confused -- but in a good way.
Damn it, Jim, I'm only a doctor...highly illogical, indeed.
An interesting collaborative effort from two of my AOTM heroes. Who else would start off with a Casey Kasem rant and end with an optimistic Frank Sinatra number?
This reeks of insanity. Three thumbs up!!
eeep. as i like to say when i have to write horrible essaies..not that this is horrible...i'd say charismatic, in the way a scary, evil, small marsupial is charismatic. it's unnerving, but attractive for being unnerving...hmm. good rosie.
Yes, I think the title of Mr Nimoy's piece sums this one up not too badly. Sticking Yoko, Sinatra, Ginsberg and Sun Ra all in the one place is highly illogical, but curiously appealing...
Having heard much of this last night, I'm stunned by the "brilliance meets unlistenability" of it. First off, the Casey Kasem track is truly hilarious - I always knew he was a real prick. Ending on "High Hopes", is just perfect. The cd MUST be taken as a whole - it's guaranteed to clear out a party, end friendships, break up a marriage, and bring us peace without honor. In short, it's fucking great.
I think Rob supplied the brilliance while I brought the unlistenability. Nice job working outta the corner I mixed you into Rob. For a suit & tie guy, yer alright.
Looks quite interesting to me, but then again, I'd have to hear it :)
Hell. Isn't Casey Kasem that guy who used to do the Billboard charts back in the eighties? He was scary. Though not as scary as Mr Rogers.
I"m going to pretend that I didn't just hear someone call Mr. Rogers - Pittsburgh genius and legend - "scary". He was the father I never had. Hey wait, that explains a few of my neuroses....
Casey Kasem freaking out- hmm, I am curious about that one.
oh how i would love to hear this!
I realize I'm a bit late, but this is REALLY great stuff...Essential.
The even numbered tracks ROCK. The odd ones are... well, odd ;-)
::swoon:: I'm in love with this mix!
where did you find the song "the iliad"?
