Comment:

Dr. Dre’s got more than a massive record collection and a few samples dancing round in his head; never content to simply loop or cut up breaks, he once told Time magazine he'd "rather use musicians to recreate (a) sound or elaborate on it," because he can "control it better." Fact is, you might not even be able to recognize the classic cuts he’s sampled as we have them here — in their original form, pulled from his crates of interstellar "Flashlight" funk (Roger, Parliament, Bootsy Collins), imaginary film scores (David Axelrod, Leon Haywood) and brittle, heartbreaking soul (The Temptations, Marvin Gaye). No wonder a “follow the leader now, fools” smile never seems to leave Dre's face.
