The history of Dr. Dre is every bit a work in progress, seeing as the hit man’s never stopped assaulting the airwaves by exercising his influence over the Eminems and Snoop Doggs of tomorrow. In some cases, the connection has been etched in blood, as in the laser-guided, bringing-that-gangsta-beat-back posturing of Lil Eazy-E and the bobbing/weaving boasts of Hood Surgeon, who just so happens to be Dre's son with fellow Death Row vet Michel'lle. Other G-thang attempts aren't so obvious: the G-funk-by-way-of-the-East Coast approach of Saigon, the P-funk/boom-bap microbrew of Long Beach Crew alum Bad Azz, and the smog-engulfed debut of Dr. Dre's latest Aftermath signing, Bishop Lamont. While you’re digging into this new crop of stars, we’ve got a good feeling Dre’s already rubbed off on [i]next[/i] year’s finest.
