This is the first of what has become an annual series of tapes that I give to friends around Christmas- and Hanukkah-time to share music I've discovered in the past year (or sometimes old things I've rediscovered). This one, being the first, has some cuts I'm exceptionally fond of, since it actually includes a backlog of tunes that had been building up for years before I started making the annual tapes. OK, so Dave Matthews is no big revelation to anyone, especially that particular song, but it was new to me at the time, when it was just starting to break into the mainstream.
