Comment:
For Jakelicious Zartan. This mix--more than any I've ever done, I think--evolved quite a bit over the past 24 hours, but I think I like where it's settled itself. Thanks to: Jana for "Wichita Lineman" (I finally used it), CASETTA for "Five String Serenade" (got it in the mail today, Tom!), and Swoon37 for "I Wish I Was a Mole in the Ground" (I wish I still owned that Lunsford comp). Title from the brand-spanking-new S. Merritt tune.Feedback:
Yes, yes. "Slow Descent" might be my favorite song ever. Ever. I could pick out individual songs, but as a whole, this is great. Wide-ranging is the way I likes it. And Van Morrison is a golden god.
I've been known to sing "I Wish I Was A Mole" in the shower (and once on stage). When people talk about timeless songs, that's what they're referring to. Nice mix Rob, love that Trux song too.
Glad you got the mix Rob. Nice use of it here on this treat.
Wow, really great mix, Rob. Love the Arthur Lee pick esp. And Nick Cave as well - who I am going to see this very evening (along with 2000 other people), this time with the Bad Seeds.
nice...as per usual. nice nick cave and kinks picks.
You rock my world chief.
man, you always put something amazing together when you get into a "mixed genre" mood. great stuff all around.
A real nice mix
Geeeeez, man. I tell you what, this is FAR more than I deserve. This mix gives my inner-music-geek some heavy petting, ifyaknowwhati'msayin. Dude, I'm floored!!
Eight Miles High by Husker Du? Is there anything you can't dig up!?! Love that Kinks choice and the way you fit the Teddy Bears in. Thanks for reminding me that I need to pick up Veedon Fleece!
I really like this. A lot. Extra thumbs up for the KISS.
Hey Rob. This is very cool. I think it would make an excellent trade for my 2:17 mix.
KISS..... it's hard to believe I used to love that band so much. I mean, every goddamned song is about getting laid. To think, I identified with these guys in junior high school. What the hell was I thinking. And yet, I still love that song. Maybe it's time we do a glam mix. Eh, Rob?
Brilliant mix, Rob, as usual. Glad you got some use out of "Wichita Lineman." I see some other songs I almost used on my recent mixes. I like that.
Hey Rob,
I'm liking the mix a lot. I particularly like the Pink Floyd/Glen Campbell combination. I sort of collect versions of "Wichita Lineman" but the original is by far the best. And, ever since the SNL Behind the Music parody on Blue Oyester Cult, I've gotten even more enjoyment out of "(Don't Fear)The Reaper" than I had before. Donna and I saw Marshall Crenshaw do that song once--it was just him and two other guys, but they rocked it out appropriately, down to the space guitar solo.
