Comment:

same deal as my clash and bowie collections, like teapin says "always gotta know the originals to fully appreciate the cover versions". It started with a hunt for Johnny Cash version of the singer, didn't find in Memphis or Nashville or Atlanta but finally in New Orleans i got it and soon after that the hunt was for the whole lot. On the "kicking against the prick" album the "Muddy water" was credit to Bundick in The Free but it isn't the Free song it's a Johnny Cash song so the original version will be on Cave originals 2

Well done p. Wicked Nick's quite the appropriation artist. Like Bowie, it'd be annoying if he wasn't so good at it.

This is great. I actually got to see Nick live last week with the Bad Seeds, and although he didn't play any covers, he was still great.

totally agree that line about appreciating the originals!
pricks is one of NC & bad seeds masterpieces - the question of 'is it a rip off' doesnt even contend. have long been meaning to hunt down the originals to make this comp but only started this week, which led me here. thanks for the info. btw if you havent heard it yet, stay tuned for the latest cave single - a real heart-pounding pop nugget ala Deanna!
