the other music store in harvard square cambridge MA is closed now. it's so tragic, it was my favorite record store. It was the epitome of indie and hard to find cds in the vicinity of the state. so now it's gone. gone. so sad. I have so many memories in that store too. and the cds I bought at that store. so basically a short list from some artists who's cds I bought at that lovely love blue and orange store.other music had everything. they arranged the music by genres (ie. la decadense for european and asian pop), hip hop, electronica, rap and a huge indie section. they also had a great zine selection too, and the people there were always helpful and friendly.
it's really sad that there's no more Other Music around. I still can't believe it. It's like losing a loved pet or something. I still remember that they would get new shipments of cds every tuesday. And they had so many pizzicato five singles. ahhhhh! I'm so sad about their closing.
their last branch left is in NYC. when i go there in april, I'm planning on bringing a mix tape for them there along with some flowers.
sigh.

That is really really sad. sweet mix though. I ADORE Other Music in Manhattan and I would be very sad if that one ever closed. When you make your pilgrimage, make sure to glare heartily at the Tower complex across the street. Everyone else does (:
Excellent mix. I've seen some of my favorite indie records stores here in San Diego close as well. I refuse to buy anything from Sam Goody or the Wherehouse...
What? I've only been gone (from Boston) for less than 2 years; during that time, 1. an Other Music store opens up in Cambridge (much to my delight, although, as I now live in Australia, I couldn't really shop there anyway, plus I've got a great store in 78 Records right down the street from me) and 2. it closes down, why? What a bummer - I was planning a pilgramage to it on my first trip home this June...Sweet mix, btw.
