Comment:
As any of you who know me well - all one of you - can attest, I am not a religious man. However, I think that a really good case can be made for NRBQ being the second coming of christ. I mean, if you believe in that sort of thing. One of the greatest rock n rolls shows I have ever witnessed - brilliance meets total stupidity. Find that fine line and step over it - way over it. Dig the Q. Dig them deeply.Feedback:
Yes!! I have seen many a NRBQ show and even did an entry for them in my Encyclopedia Nn. They blow me away everytime. I had the great joy of seeing thier 30th Anniversery shows up in NYC. They were incredible. Special guest The Shaggs! It was a star studded event.
Really fine stuff, and you start off with my fave NRBQ song ever.
This is great, Sean. I'd love a copy. And let's not forget that absolutely jaw-dropping show that we both witnessed last year...
nice one, sean. Should have that burner up and running by this afternoon. Look out for some new mixes soon.
NRBQ are fun personified, it's a shame I've never seen them perform live.
Oh yeah, and speaking of religious experiences, have you heard the NRBQ version of the song that Rod and Todd sing on the Simpsons? The one that goes "I've got that Joy Joy Joy Joy deep in my heart"? I forget the title. It makes me smile. =)
Great compilation!Used to see NRBQ once a month it seemed at Lupo's in Providence back in 83-85. A total of about 25 shows. These guys made a career of dancing on that thin line between clever and stupid. I might have tossed on a few other favs that were centerpieces from that era (Green Lights, Me and the Boys, Shake Rattle and Roll, Here Comes Terry) but these are great selections. If you get a chance, pick up a copy of "God Bless us All" recorded live at Lupos in April of '87. Captures the insanity pretty well.
Glad to see all these Q fans!!....can't believe I left "Thats Neat.." off my recent comp..arg!
GREAT STUFF!!
