Comment:

29) Don't Forget Me. (I added an additional track when two additional minutes opened up upon actually burning the disc and the "Update a Mix" feature would not let me branch into 29 for some reason.) 80 minutes of an absolute pop genius with a three-and-a-half octave vocal range whose persona (which veered from choirboy bank teller to Dionysian Beatle foil) only enhanced the quality of his work. As always, there are omissions due to space limitations: "You're Breakin' My Heart", "Waiting", "Think About Your Troubles", "Mr. Richland's Favorite Song", "Jump Into the Fire", "Everybody's Talkin'", "The Beehive State", "The Puppy Song", "It's Been So Long", "Miss Butter's Lament", "Rainmaker", "Dayton, Ohio 1903", "Yellow Man", "Turn on Your Radio", "Early in the Morning", the bulk of his standards album (A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night), "Ten Little Indians", "P.O.V. Waltz", "Caroline" and "You Can't Do That" only scratch the surface, I'm sure.

Very nice Rob. Sounds like you have enough for a volume two. I think "Coconut" was my first favorite song by an established pop artist (Mr. Rogers doesn't count)

Hmm... I'd go with "Aerial Ballet". It's on a two-disc set with his phenomenal first album, "Pandemonium Shadow Show".

i plead total ignorance, rob. but if anyone knows an "absolute pop genius" when he hears one, it's you.

Wow! Looks like I have to delve deeper into Mr. Nilsson's catalog! I'm sure he's somewhere downing drinks w/Mr. Lennon as we type!

Hey man, this mix is totally great. I've been listening to it nonstop since I returned home. Talk about an artist out of time. In his best, I put him up there with Tom Waits. I'm sure others put them both in the same category as Cohen, but for some reason he never did it for me. Must be the voice. My first introduction to Harry, like so many others, is through the "Courtship of Eddie's Father" theme, and of course, "Midnight Cowboy." I think you're wrong about that movie, by the way - I don't think it's quite as dated as you think. But maybe that's because it mirrors my own life so much ;-) XOXO, Ratso Lallo.
