Comment:
80 minutes of an amazing, unclassifiable talent whose life was cut short by his self-destructive impulses. Compiled at the request of lo-fi last summer (only one more requested single-artist mix left, Jim). This disc only covers his career prior to his ill-advised reinvention as a white soul boy in the early 1970s and forgoes live versions in favor of studio versions, provided that a studio version exists. As with a lot of artists that I've comp'ed, there were a ton of songs that I'd have liked to have included: "Blue Melody", "Starsailor", "Chase the Blues Away", "Sing a Song for You", "Gypsy Woman", "Nobody's Walking" and "I Never Asked to Be Your Mountain" are the main examples.Feedback:
Very goopd Rob. I might want this one sometime in the future. Sorry it's taking so long for your discs to get there. I have been very busy lately. Hopefully tomorrow I will send them out.
This looks dynamite Rob. I'd forgotten about this. Can't quite recall what the last request was. Chet Baker maybe? Thanx for including "Don't Need It To Rain". I love that one, even if it sounds like it was (fittingly?) recorded underwater.
nice mix, though buckley wasn't that great, his legacy is amplified by his death.so he becomes greater in death than he was in life.dick
oooh...i hope if chet baker wans't the requested one it gets constructed anyway!! great mix rob.
i second lo-fi jr comment, pure dynamite, so beautiful and so weak but strong anyway.
Beautiful stuff, Rob.
Really nice Rob. The more I listen to Buckley, the more I want to hear.
Excellent stuff as usual Rob. Buzzin Fly is a classic. I am frustrated because I can't post a mix at the moment. Good luck to everyone else, it must be my fuckin' PC
