Comment:
80 minutes of Chet, compiled by request of lo-fi and Rosie. This is by no means definitive... I make no claims to have anything approaching a comprehensive Chet Baker collection, plus I have a distinct bias for his 50's crooning (rather than his more acclaimed trumpet playing). Not that there's anything wrong with his trumpet playing, as I love it, but it just doesn't *slay* me like his voice did in its prime. I only included one instrumental ("Stella by Starlight") and only three vocal tracks from his post-1958 work. All of the later vocal tracks are taken from the soundtrack to Bruce Weber's amazing (and depressing) "Let's Get Lost" documentary, and they almost sound like they are sung by an entirely different artist.Feedback:
Very lovely, Rob.
stunning a rama!! goddamn...rob's single artists mixes are so good. this one being no exception. and i'll agree with the 50's crooning over trumpeting...i love a pretty love song.
"easy like a sunday morning"
great stuff, rob, although i have to admit that i've been a little reluctant to fully embrace the chet.
hey rob. i am a dork, completely lame, etc etc etc. i will email you with my new address, 'kay? i've been off the face of the planet for a long, long time. hope everything's well. xo.
Very nicely done, Rob. "Let's Get Lost" was a truly heartbreaking film.
wow, another great one... have you ever heard Chet's 'the touch of your lips'? Very much in his 50's vein...
