Comment:
Ok fellow mix-maniacs....I am in need of assistance. I have hit a mental block and can think of nothing more to put on this mix. The theme, if you couldn't tell from the name of the mix and the different tracks, is that I want to tell a girl who is going to be leaving my life permanently that I am in love with her. Currently, I don't think she has much of a clue that our year and a half of friendship has grown into a realization that there is no one else for me. I don't think that this will get her to stay, but this needs to be said. So...you all can help me out in a big way if you could submit song suggestions as comments. Once I finish, I'll post it and the results.Feedback:
I probably shouldn't have posted under my real name....she might check this site....D'oh!
first off: based on these song titles, she'll figure it out whether she sees the site or not. second: put on some mogwai (anything from 'come on die young'), anything from cat power and the pernice brothers. matt pond PA has some good sad songs too.
my suggestion ; Elvis Presley - I just can't help belivin' , with a lyric like "this time i think she gonna stay" would work out fine ;-)
my suggestion...to go with the magnetic fields is steven merritt's maria maria maria(opening line, "you better go/ or you'll be late for your train.")...a love song to a girl leaving. it would work.
most songs i would think of, you've already got (Like the buckley track, and the magnetic fields). however, i think The Church's "Under The Milky Way Tonight" would be good. also, it could be more obvious than you're wanting, but Matthew Sweet's "I've Been Waiting" is a good unrequited love song. and Radiohead's "High and Dry" could be good but may be a little too bitter.
3 doors down 'i need you' is beautiful.. a little mainstream, but still nice ["i cant get let you go little girl. youre holding up my world. a couple of the million things that i love about you."] good luck
I think she'd probably appreciate it even more if you actually say down and TOLD her how you feel. Nothing wrong with the tape idea but it's got to be real.
