Comment:

Songs inspired by the film AMERICAN BEAUTY. While none of these songs are in the film itself, they were all ones that came to mind the last time I watched it. I imagined that Lester Burnham would have "Let's Get it On" playing in his head any time he saw Angela, I thought "One" and "Fade Into You" were good theme songs for Ricky Fitz and Janie. this tape is part of a birthday gift for my best friend, who actually went to see the movie with me when it came out in 1999.

I love how this mix comes down at the end, though I can't quite place the moment where 'Raining in Baltimore' fits. This makes me want to watch 'American Beauty' again with these songs in the background. Quick question- what song would you be playing when the father looks out the window + thinks he sees his son blowing Kevin Spacey? Out.

John Lennon's "Going Down On Love." Check out the lyrics. I agree w/you on the Gaye, Airplane and Mazzy tracks. I'll probably always associate "The End" w/Apocalypse Now and "Wonderful World" w/Sleepless In Seattle, but what the heck!

Just realized I got crossed up: the Doors tune should actually be "Riders on the Storm" (as it is now that i've changed it). THAT was the tune that i had pegged for when The Colenol sees his son in the garage. "Raining in Baltimore" was something I thought could work during that last sequence just before the end. The vocals with piano only had the peacefulness that seems appropriate, and the title caught me since it's all set on a rainy night.
